Observations: Zumba edition

My work-friend (and okay, friend-friend) Kelli went to Zumba class at the YMCA last night. We go pretty often and have worked up the courage to stake out a place up front so we can lead the pack in moves such as single-single-double, L-step and of course, spank-it. It's great people-watching. Here's what I spotted last night:

+ a girl doing Zumba barefoot. OUCH.
+ a girl with pink and red gym shoes that had her name (Jessica) embroidered on the sides. WANT.
+ a 9-ish year old girl who stood in the front row and danced her ass off while mouthing the words to songs like Alejandro and Rude Boy. WINCE.
+ a friendship sparked between the dancing 9 year old and the teenage girl next to her. The younger girl just walked right up to the older girl, stuck out her hand and introduced herself. Then they talked for the rest of the class (except when Alejandro was playing). ADORABLE.

We go on Saturdays, too, but I decided to skip it last week. Kelli reported that there was a new addition to the class -- an octogenarian wearing red spandex pants and a long sleeve body suit snapped *over* her pants who chanted "Ga-Ga! Ga-Ga!" when the instructor opened up the floor to song requests. REGRET.
